Why people leave Wix

Six reasons Wix stops working as your business grows

We hear the same frustrations from every Wix client who comes to us. If any of these sound familiar, you are not alone.

Your site is slower than it should be
Wix generates bloated code that you cannot touch. No matter how simple your site looks, the underlying code is heavy and slow. Low PageSpeed scores hurt your Google rankings and lose you visitors who leave before the page loads.
SEO is limited and you know it
Wix has improved its SEO tools but it still cannot compete with WordPress. No schema markup, limited control over site structure, poor handling of blog SEO, and URL structures that are not ideal for ranking. If organic traffic matters to your business, Wix is holding you back.
You cannot build what you want
Wix's drag-and-drop editor looks flexible until you try to build something specific. Custom functionality, advanced integrations, membership areas, complex forms, and anything outside Wix's template library requires workarounds that break or cost extra every month.
Monthly costs keep climbing
Wix starts cheap but the full cost adds up quickly. Premium plans, app subscriptions, transaction fees on e-commerce, and the cost of being locked into their ecosystem. WordPress with good hosting typically costs less per year and you own everything outright.
You do not own your site
Your Wix site lives on Wix's servers. If Wix changes its pricing, policies, or discontinues a feature you rely on, you have no recourse. On WordPress, you own every file, every database entry, and every line of code. It is yours, completely.
Security and reliability concerns
Wix handles security at a platform level โ€” meaning you have no control over it. On WordPress, you choose your security setup, your backup frequency, and your hosting provider. For businesses handling client data or e-commerce, this control matters.

SEO protection

The most important part of any Wix migration is the redirects.

Wix uses its own URL structure. When you move to WordPress, every old URL changes. Without proper 301 redirects, Google sees hundreds of broken pages and your rankings drop. We make sure that never happens.

Full URL inventory before we touch anything
We crawl your entire Wix site and build a complete map of every URL โ€” pages, blog posts, category pages, tag pages, images. Nothing is missed.
Every old URL mapped to its new WordPress equivalent
We write a 301 redirect for every single URL before the new site goes live. Old Wix URL โ†’ new WordPress URL. Google follows the redirect and transfers the ranking.
Google Search Console verified post-launch
After launch we resubmit your sitemap to Search Console, verify crawl coverage, and monitor for any redirect errors. We stay on for 30 days post-launch at no extra cost.

We had been on Wix for 4 years and were terrified of losing our rankings. Webwalls handled every redirect perfectly, our site went live without a single hour of downtime, and 8 weeks later our organic traffic is actually up 22%. The migration took 14 days from first call to live site.

Our Wix site was embarrassingly slow โ€” 28 on PageSpeed. After Webwalls migrated us to WordPress and optimised the build, we hit 91. The difference in how the site feels is night and day. We should have done this two years ago. The whole project was exactly what was promised.

Wix has very limited export functionality โ€” you can export blog posts as a RSS feed but most content has no clean export option. We use a combination of Wix's limited export tools, direct API access where available, and manual transfer for content that cannot be exported. That is why a professional migration is worth doing properly โ€” doing it yourself on Wix is genuinely difficult.
If your domain is registered through Wix, we transfer it to a domain registrar you control โ€” such as Namecheap or Google Domains โ€” before or during the migration. You never lose your domain. If your domain is already registered elsewhere and just connected to Wix, we simply update the DNS records to point to your new WordPress hosting. Either way, your domain stays yours.
Yes. Email is completely separate from your website. If your email is through Wix's email service, we help you migrate to Google Workspace or another provider before the domain transfer so there is no interruption to your email. If your email is already hosted elsewhere, nothing changes at all.
That is your choice. We can either match your existing Wix design as closely as possible on WordPress โ€” same layout, same colours, same fonts โ€” or we can redesign while migrating. Many clients use the migration as an opportunity to modernise their design at the same time. If you want a redesign, we quote it as a combined project. If you want it matched, we do that. You decide.
A straightforward Wix site with up to 20 pages and a blog starts from $999. Sites with more pages, e-commerce functionality, or a redesign included run higher. We assess your specific Wix site and give you a fixed price โ€” you know the full cost before committing. Send us your URL and we will tell you within 24 hours.
Do not cancel it until at least 30 days after your new WordPress site launches successfully. Keep it as a reference and safety net during the post-launch period. Once you are confident your new site is performing correctly โ€” traffic is normal, rankings are intact, no issues โ€” you can cancel. We will specifically tell you when it is safe to do so as part of our 30-day post-launch support.
